Mr. Halit Tuncer is a seasoned aviation and air-cargo executive and a technology-oriented commercial leader who currently serves as Vice President – Cargo Sales for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) at Turkish Cargo, the cargo division of Turkish Airlines. With an extensive career spanning sales, regional management, cargo operations, and technology-led transformation, he has played an important role in strengthening Turkish Cargo’s commercial presence across some of the world’s most strategically important emerging air-freight markets. His leadership philosophy combines data-driven decision-making, customer centricity, innovation, and a deep understanding of regional trade dynamics, reflecting his belief that technology and market intelligence are increasingly essential to building competitive global cargo networks.
Mr. Tuncer began his professional journey with Turkish Cargo and was involved early in the organization’s technology and operational modernization, including as part of the project team responsible for migrating from its legacy cargo management system. This experience gave him a strong understanding of the operational foundations behind modern air-cargo businesses and helped shape his later emphasis on using data and emerging technologies to improve decision-making and commercial performance. From 2013 to 2020, he served as sales manager for the Middle East and South Asia, gaining extensive experience across two highly dynamic and strategically significant cargo regions. He subsequently became regional director for South Asia, a position he held from 2020 to 2024, during which he successfully steered the region through the unprecedented operational and commercial challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In August 2024, Mr. Tuncer was elevated to the position of vice president for MEASA, giving him responsibility for a vast and diverse geography encompassing the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. His current mandate involves driving cargo-sales growth, strengthening relationships with freight forwarders and strategic customers, developing regional markets, and supporting Turkish Cargo’s broader ambition of leveraging Istanbul as a major global air-cargo hub. His leadership is particularly relevant as Turkish Cargo continues to expand its international network and exploit the geographic advantage of Türkiye as a bridge connecting Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
A computer engineer by education and an IT enthusiast by professional orientation, Mr. Tuncer brings an uncommon technology dimension to air-cargo leadership. His approach is strongly rooted in data science, analytics, and emerging technologies, which he uses to support more informed commercial decisions and identify opportunities for network and customer development. His continued engagement with industry forums, including his participation as a speaker at the India International Cargo Show, reflects his commitment to sharing perspectives on the future of global air cargo and the evolving logistics and supply-chain landscape.
Mr. Tuncer holds a degree from Hacettepe University, where he studied from 2001 to 2005. Through his combination of engineering and technology expertise, deep regional knowledge, and nearly two decades of experience with Turkish Cargo, he represents a modern model of aviation leadership—one that connects commercial growth with digital transformation, customer partnerships, and intelligent network development. His current mission is to help Turkish Cargo deepen its position across MEASA while contributing to a more connected, efficient, and technology-enabled global air-cargo ecosystem.
