As the chief of governance & strategic acquisitions, Priya leads fleet acquisition and management and aeropolitical and industry affairs, along with the legal and compliance departments at Akasa. Priya manages key strategic relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and several aircraft lessors.

She has been integral to establishing a transparent and collaborative approach with regulatory authorities, including the Director General of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. In addition, Priya is responsible for overall compliance at Akasa, which includes compliance with the company’s policies in relation to conduct, ethics, and company culture as well as regulatory compliance.

Prior to being associated with Akasa Air, Priya was the general counsel of IndiGo. Priya has also had extensive experience in counsel practice with law firms and has had a long-standing career with tier-1 law firms in India and Singapore. She has been associated with Gibson Dunn & Jones Day in Singapore for over a decade, after working for 5 years at AZB & Partners in India. She is a dual-qualified lawyer, to practice in India and England & Wales. Under her leadership, Akasa Air’s in-house legal team has been recognized by IBLJ for Aviation for FY 2023-2024. Priya was recognized by BW Legal World as one among the ‘Top 100 General Counsels in India’, the ‘BW Legal Most influential women in Legal in 2023’, recognized as the “Woman Lawyer of the Year- In – House 2021’ by Asia Legal Business, mentioned in the Legal 500 GC Power list for India Teams in 2018.
