Prof. Kaushik Das is a Professor of Practice at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), where he brings more than three decades of experience in logistics, supply-chain management, aviation and defence logistics to the university’s academic and industry-engagement programmes. An alumnus of Osmania University, he has built his professional profile around the intersection of operational leadership, technology, logistics transformation and capability development. GSV’s current 2026–27 admission material identifies him as a Professor of Practice specialising in Aviation & Logistics, while the university’s academic records also list him as a Professor of Practice in its Aviation Engineering ecosystem.
A former Air Commodore of the Indian Air Force, Prof. Das has translated his extensive operational experience into an academic mission focused on preparing India’s logistics and aviation workforce for a technology-driven future. His stated professional experience exceeds 32 years in logistics and supply-chain management, giving him a particularly strong perspective on complex, high-stakes supply chains, aviation operations and defence sustainment. At GSV, his work goes well beyond classroom teaching: he has been actively involved in designing and delivering executive and skill-development programmes for the Indian Armed Forces, including programmes on supply-chain science, artificial intelligence in military logistics and sustainment, and technology-enabled logistics planning.
One of his principal areas of passion is the practical application of emerging technologies to logistics. In 2026, Prof. Das served as Program Director for GSV’s five-day programme on AI in Military Logistics and Sustainment for Indian Army personnel, covering machine learning, deep learning, generative AI and emerging agentic-AI applications. He has emphasised that successful technology transformation depends not only on sophisticated tools but also on addressing ERP integration, data quality, legacy systems and organisational resistance. He has similarly contributed to programmes for Indian Air Force officers on supply-chain science, incorporating live simulations, AI-enabled learning and hands-on applications to strengthen strategic, analytical and technological capabilities.
Prof. Das is also actively contributing to India’s broader capacity-building and institutional-development agenda. He has represented GSV on a Capacity Building Commission Task Force examining sustainable financing, governance and resource mobilisation for civil-service training institutions, and has participated in national initiatives under Mission Karmayogi. His industry engagement extends to aviation MRO, where he has advocated closer integration between academia, industry, defence and regulators to develop a future-ready workforce for India’s growing aerospace ecosystem.
His professional development includes certification as a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and specialised training in AI for supply-chain management, supply-chain excellence and accelerated data science. Through his work at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Prof. Kaushik Das is helping bridge the traditional gap between operational experience and academic learning, with a clear mission to develop resilient, technology-enabled and future-ready logistics and aviation professionals capable of supporting India’s ambitions in transportation, defence, infrastructure and global supply chains.
